eyes down...

here we go...

hello all. few things to go through as usual starting with -

a) for all those that are wondering and havent been keeping tabs on the board, yes, david odlum, the guitarist, has left the band. of course we are all sorry to see dave go - but - he's had some great offers of production work over this past few months and as a man who seriously enjoys a good pro-tools/computer/mixing desk/studio-related moment (there's no accounting for taste...) - he decided that that was the way forward for him - i'm sure we'll see and more aptly, hear, some good things coming out of the odlum camp over the next year or so via other artists - and possibly even the frames - none of us know whats around the corner, do we? dave is going to be doing the irish tour until the 15th nov and then he's going back to burying himself in production works various. also he's been held up in france finishing an album and won't be over for these 2 galway shows - but the very splendid mr simon goode will be helping us out on those 2 dates - and then daves back for waterford on monday. it may even be a change to see a guitarist 'stand' on stage with the frames... mmmmm... now there's a concept! suffice to say - good luck dave - keep fightin for you know what and keep rokin' in the free world...

b) irish tour dates and supports as follows...
oct

28 galway town hall with mundy
29 waterford south, with bonnie prince billy

3 vic st, seated with paul oreilly and josh ritter and his band
4 vic st, seated with bellx1 and josh ritter and his band

rachel grimes from the rachels will also be over for these shows - twas rachel that plays the beautiful piano parts on in the deep shade - so id guess theres some very special musical treats in store for those that are there... there might even be a few other very special guest appearances (apart from those listed...) so keep your eyes and ears peeled.

8 belfast limelight with josh ritter and band
9 dundalk spirit store with damien rice
10 instore at cool discs in foyle st, derry at 4pm

15 savoy standing, cork with mundy and josh ritter + band

at as many of these shows as we can in ireland we will have the album to sell at a tour price of £10. we have no teeshirts right now... sorry - but we will also have some vinyl albums and the 7" single that the frames did with calexico.

c) america. so... the album is out and about over there as of last week which is all very exciting... if people there want to get hold of a copy without actually removing themselves from the comfort of their homes, then you can do so from www.overcoatrecordings.com to name but one outlet. we have been lucky enough to bolt onto label mates 'the kingsbury manx' tour starting 5th dec. we will also be over doing at least 1 new york and new jersey and boston show previous to that. i am still in the middle of finalising the details but this is an idea of where we will be aiming for now... ill post details on the board as they come in, but im away on holiday from the 30th oct - 8th nov - so ill have more news for you then.

note - those with a * are dates with the kingsbury manx

nov 20th or 21st knitting factory nyc TBC am still working on it... will only be talking to the man i need to talk to on monday night cause he's away too - but they are keen....so fingers crossed cause i hear its a great place to play...
22nd you guys do this thing where you all gather round a turkey or something... i think we will be doing similar... when in rome and all that...

sorry to be so vague - but im waiting on stuff from others till i can confirm the shows - but this give you a rough idea of where we'll be and when... i would actually say after that rather gruelling schedule (get a map out and have a look...!) the lads will be delirious post 8th/9th december and it'll be "hello cleaveland" all the way...

we will also be back to do the west coast properly in feb/march of next year, before heading down to australia... you might even get some down under action in january to wind things up for march...

from the east coast its back home to a couple of other dates to put in the diary in ireland...

d) both charitable functions -
dec
21st belfast, i think it was the mandela hall, supporting belle and sebastian at an nspcc toys for christmas gig. i beleive the idea is that all the money that gets taken on the night gets taken out to a large toy emporium on the following day by the bands and a pile of toys are bought for kids in need for christmas - well worth supporting by the sound of it...
22nd in whelans, the www.CLUAS.com awards / benefit night the event will be a benefit for the Concern Afghan refugee campaign (check out www.concern.ie for more info). and maybe cluas.com for ticket info - probably not out there yet, but thought i'd pre warn yous.

when i get back from hols and after sorting out the american end of the touring i will be concentrating efforts on putting together the new years eve gig that will be in vicar street/the shelter as per last year... for those asking for tickets and stuff for that - there aint nothing yet - be patient and we'll get it sorted within the month...
